This is a project that we did a long time ago... It was the beginning of our intentions to update the first floor. It was before the basement flooded and that became a more pressing issue. Before is the oak mantle with the decorative accents.
After... Painted white, decorative strip removed. The area was re-caulked and extra paint or whatever had been spilled on the stone was sanded off:
