Naps, or lack there of....

I am embarrassed to say that I can't get my baby to nap.  She will take little cat naps while nursing but wide awake the rest of the time.  I'm not sure why she sleeps so good at daycare.  I thought maybe it is the excess stimulation there, the belly full of formula or some magical secret that they have.  So one day I asked daycare if she is difficult to get down for a nap.  I mentioned that the only time I can get her to sleep is nursing (so I didn't sound like a terrible mother asking daycare how to raise my baby).  Her wonderful teacher Ms. Barbara told me that if she has a pacifier and a blanket up near her face she falls asleep easy in two minutes.  And...
TA DA...We have a sleeping baby.  Now I've only gotten her to do this several times, so all my problems in life aren't solved, but I am glad I asked.  Now, in my defence, I would never think to put a blanket by her face because of what's drilled into my head about SIDS, but it works and is totally safe at this point.   Thanks Ms. Barbara!   Ms Barbara has left now to have her second child and we are really missing her at school.

  1. Hi Kim,

I saw your comment on my blog re: balance. Yup, no such thing. Just what you want to focus on for that day. And now you're learning the next big secret about mommyhood . . . seek help & advice! Sounds like Ms. Barbara was a great baby whisperer ;)
